This is the first Preston Social, a bi-monthly event in Preston, Lancashire designed to bring together those interested in social and digital media from the local area to learn, teach and meet each other.
Preston has a small but dedicated group of people involved in marketing, journalism, web development and online consultancy which should make for a vibrant and diverse series of meetups, talks and workshops.
Every single day, someone, somewhere is discussing something important to your business online; your brand, your executives, your competitors, your products or your industry.
Are they hyping-up your company maybe building buzz for your products?
Or are they criticising your service and complaining to others about your new product?
In the words of Douglas Adams, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy "Don't Panic", Tom Stables and Nathaniel Cassidy are here to guide you through the online universe; what data is out online waiting to be found, how visiting the web leaves a digital footprint and ways in which to monitor what is being said and how to respond.
Hopefully The Preston Social will become a hub of learning and socialising for anyone passionate about the many uses of social media in the North West, encompassing Preston, Lancaster, Blackburn and beyond!

Tom Stables is the founder of Tom Stables Creative: a forward thinking and creative business combining digital, graphic, web and social media design as well as lecturing for Futures @ UCLan.
Nathaniel Cassidy is summed up best by his Twitter bio: "I like: olives, beer, sunglasses, reading, hats, dance music, sticky toffee pudding, Sophie and being loud." He runs Duchess of Grange Events & PR an agency that specialises in utilising interactive PR, social media, experiential marketing and event experiences.
